Native Americans and Alaska Natives have considerably increased rates of abuse and addiction than other ethnicities, an a situation which has to be aknowledged for these cultures to survive. While the reasons may differ from individual to person, the majority of of the causes for the significantly higher rates of alcohol and drug abuse amongst Native American and Alaska Natives are cultural ones. In fact, Native American and Alaska Native adolescents appear to have some of the highest rates of drug and alcohol abuse in the nation. The most evident hurdles to helping Native Americans and Alaska Natives for drug addiction are cultural ones and language. Due to this it is important that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Yorklyn receive rehab treatment in a drug rehab program that is culturally acceptable, and more importantly in a drug rehab program that considers the need to offer alcohol and drug rehabilitation in their native tongue.
