Treating persons who are addicted to drugs and/or alcohol and have ended up in the criminal justice system has proven effective in preventing repeat drug related offenses for individuals who do take advantage of treatment programs. For criminal justice clients in Western who do take part in in drug and alcohol treatment centers, even un-voluntarily as is occasionally court ordered, these clients have a significantly better shot of dealing with the crux of the issue so that they can stay sober and off of negative influences and [[[committing drug related criminal acts. The costs to the criminal justice system related to these drug related offenses is also impacted positively when criminal justice clients become helped in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers in Western in lieu of incarceration or other harsh punishment.
