Rehabilitating persons who are addicted to drugs and/or alcohol and have ended up in the criminal justice system has proven a productive method of preventing repeat drug related crimes for individuals who do become rehabilitated. For criminal justice clients in West Point who do agree to take part in treatment in drug treatment facilities, even if not of their own choice as is occasionally court ordered, these individuals have a much better opportunity of dealing with the root of the issue so that they can stay sober and off of being implicated in drug related crimes. The costs to the criminal justice system related to these drug related criminal offenses is also impacted positively when criminal justice clients turn out to be rehabbed in drug and alcohol treatment facilities in West Point in lieu of incarceration or other harsh punishment.
