Native Americans and Alaska Natives are known to have much increased rates of alcohol and drug abuse and alcohol and drug addiction than other races, an an issue which must be aknowledged for these people to survive. While the causes may vary from individual to person, many of the factors for the high rates of drug abuse amongst Native American and Alaska Natives have to do with their culture. In fact, Native American and Alaska Native adolescents appear to have some of the highest rates of drug and alcohol abuse in the nation. The most apparent obstacles to helping Native Americans and Alaska Natives for drug addiction are cultural differences and their language. For this reason it is crucial that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Wanette obtain treatment services in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center that is understanding of their culture, but most importantly in a drug rehab program that considers the need to offer drug and alcohol treatment in their language.
