Native Americans and Alaska Natives have considerably very high rates of alcohol and drug abuse and drug addiction than other ethnicities, an an issue which should be aknowledged for these people to survive. While the reasons may differ from person to person, the majority of of the causes for the high rates of drug abuse amongst Native American and Alaska Natives related to their culture. In fact, Native American and Alaska Native adolescents have some of the highest rates of drug and alcohol abuse in the U.S.. The most apparent hurdles to treating Native Americans and Alaska Natives for drug and alcohol addiction are cultural challenges and language. For this reason it is important that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Waite receive treatment services in an alcohol and drug rehab program that is understanding of their culture, and more importantly in one that understand the need to provide drug and alcohol rehabilitation in their native tongue.
