Native Americans and Alaska Natives have significantly higher rates of abuse and addiction than other races, an a circumstance which should be aknowledged for these people to survive. Although the things which trigger substance abuse may differ from person to person, most of the causes for the significantly higher rates of abuse among Native American and Alaska Natives are cultural ones. In fact, Native American and Alaska Native youth have some of the highest rates of alcohol and drug abuse in the country. The most evident barriers to helping Native Americans and Alaska Natives for substance abuse are cultural ones and language. For this reason it is important that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Vandalia, Montana receive substance abuse treatment in a drug rehab facility that is culturally acceptable, and more importantly in a drug rehab program that understand the need to supply drug rehab in their native tongue.
