Native Americans and Alaska Natives are known to have considerably increased rates of alcohol and drug abuse and drug addiction than other races, an an issue which should be addressed for these cultures to survive. Although the reasons may differ from person to individual, many of the reasons for the significantly higher rates of abuse among Native American and Alaska Natives are cultural ones. First of all, Native American and Alaska Native adolescents appear to have some of the highest rates of alcohol and drug abuse in the U.S.. The most obvious obstacles to helping Native Americans and Alaska Natives for addiction are cultural challenges and language. Due to this it is crucial that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Trapper Creek obtain substance abuse treatment in a drug rehabilitation center that is understanding of their culture, and more importantly in a drug rehab that considers the need to provide drug treatment in their language.
