Native American Languages - Tome
Native Americans and Alaska Natives have significantly very high rates of substance abuse and addiction than other races, an a situation which should be resolved for these cultures to survive. Although the causes may differ from individual to individual, most of the factors for the high rates of abuse amongst Native American and Alaska Natives are cultural ones. First of all, Native American and Alaska Native youth appear to have some of the highest rates of drug and alcohol abuse in the U.S.. The most obvious barriers to treating Native Americans and Alaska Natives for drug and alcohol addiction are cultural differences and their language. This is why it is vital that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Tome, New Mexico receive substance abuse treatment in an alcohol and drug treatment program that is culturally acceptable, but most importantly in a drug rehab program that considers the need to supply drug and alcohol rehabilitation in their native tongue.
