Partial Hospitalization, sometimes referred to as "PHP" or Day Treatment, is a type of alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility which works to deal with drug addiction issues and mental health issues which may possibly be co-occurring. In a PHP center, the individual in rehab takes part in a variety of rehabilitation activities and methods in the day and then returns home in the evening. This is done anywhere from five to seven days a week, depending on the seriousness of the problem. Partial Hospitalization can be most effective for drug addicted individuals in St. James who may not be able to cover the costs of long-term inpatient care, or who are not able to be away from their home and work for extensive periods of time. While in Day Treatment, treatment clients take part in typical counseling and therapy for alcohol or drug addiction problems while simultaneously overcoming mental health problems which could keep them from staying abstinent once rehab is complete.
