Partial Hospitalization, sometimes referred to as "PHP" or Day Treatment, is a type of drug rehab program that works to deal with substance abuse issues and mental health issues which might be co-occurring. In a PHP facility, the individual in treatment participates in a number of rehab services and approaches during the day and then returns home in the evening. This is carried out several days a week, all dependent on the seriousness of the drug or alcohol problem. Partial Hospitalization can be most effective for drug or alcohol addicted persons in South Bristol who who may be unable to afford long-term inpatient rehab, or for treatment clients who are not able to be away from their families for prolonged periods of time. While in Day Treatment, individuals take part in standard counseling and therapy for drug and alcohol addiction issues while at the same time dealing with psychological disorders which may deter them from staying abstinent when rehabilitation is done.
