Native Americans and Alaska Natives are known to have much very high rates of abuse and drug addiction than other ethnicities, an a situation which should be resolved for these people to survive. While the reasons may differ from person to individual, the majority of of the reasons for the higher rates of substance abuse amongst Native American and Alaska Natives related to their culture. First of all, Native American and Alaska Native adolescents have some of the highest rates of drug and alcohol abuse in the U.S.. The most evident obstacles to treating Native Americans and Alaska Natives for drug addiction are cultural ones and their language. Due to this it is vital that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Sasabe obtain substance abuse treatment in a drug and alcohol treatment center that is understanding of their culture, and most importantly in one that understand the need to offer drug rehabilitation in their native tongue.
