Individuals can become addicted to drugs no matter their handicap or unique physical challenge. This at times makes people even more susceptible to becoming involved in alcohol or drug addiction, because of the unique challenges that may be a factor in the perspon's life. This is true for people in the deaf and hearing impaired community also, and treatment for drug and alcohol abuse problems is often required. Deaf or hearing impaired people will need ASL or other support as part of their treatment needs, and there are drug and alcohol treatment programs available throughout the Russian Mission area which cater to these special needs. Skilled treatment counselors who know ASL and can offer other essential help to deaf or hearing impaired substance abusers are readily available in a number of drug rehab programs around Russian Mission and in the country.
