Native Americans and Alaska Natives have significantly higher rates of alcohol and drug abuse and drug addiction than other ethnicities, an a circumstance which must be resolved for these cultures to endure. Although the things which trigger substance abuse may differ from person to person, many of the reasons for the higher rates of substance abuse among Native American and Alaska Natives related to their culture. In fact, Native American and Alaska Native youth have some of the highest rates of alcohol and drug abuse in the country. The most obvious obstacles to helping Native Americans and Alaska Natives for addiction are cultural ones and language. Due to this it is crucial that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Rowe, New Mexico obtain rehab treatment in a drug treatment facility that is culturally acceptable, and more importantly in a drug rehab that considers the need to provide drug and alcohol treatment in their native tongue.
