Native Americans and Alaska Natives have much higher rates of drug abuse and alcohol and drug addiction than other races, an a situation which must be aknowledged for these people to survive. Although the causes may vary from individual to person, the majority of of the factors for the higher rates of drug abuse amongst Native American and Alaska Natives are cultural ones. First of all, Native American and Alaska Native adolescents appear to have some of the highest rates of alcohol and drug abuse in the country. The most apparent hurdles to helping Native Americans and Alaska Natives for drug and alcohol addiction are cultural ones and their language. This is why it is vital that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Quinhagak obtain treatment services in a drug and alcohol rehab facility that is culturally acceptable, but more importantly in a drug rehab that considers the need to offer drug rehab in their language.
