Rehabilitating persons who are addicted to drugs and/or alcohol and have found their way into the criminal justice system has proven to be a productive method of preventing repeat drug related crimes by those that do become rehabilitated. For criminal justice clients in Pine Island who do partake in drug rehab programs, even un-voluntarily as is occasionally ordered by the court, these individuals have a significantly better opportunity of handling the crux of the problem so that they can remain off of drugs and off of the streets drug related criminal activity.
