Native Americans and Alaska Natives are known to have considerably higher rates of abuse and addiction than other races, an a circumstance which has to be resolved for these cultures to endure. Although the causes may vary from person to person, most of the reasons for the high rates of abuse amongst Native American and Alaska Natives related to their culture. First of all, Native American and Alaska Native youth appear to have some of the highest rates of alcohol and drug abuse in the country. The most obvious obstacles to helping Native Americans and Alaska Natives for drug addiction are cultural differences and language.
