Native Americans and Alaska Natives are known to have much very high rates of alcohol and drug abuse and alcohol and drug addiction than other ethnicities, an a situation which should be aknowledged for these cultures to survive. While the causes may vary from individual to person, most of the reasons for the significantly higher rates of abuse among Native American and Alaska Natives related to their culture. In fact, Native American and Alaska Native youth appear to have some of the highest rates of alcohol and drug abuse in the U.S.. The most evident hurdles to helping Native Americans and Alaska Natives for drug addiction are cultural challenges and language.
