Native Americans and Alaska Natives have much increased rates of drug abuse and drug addiction than other races, an a circumstance which has to be aknowledged for these cultures to survive. Although the things which trigger substance abuse may vary from individual to person, many of the factors for the higher rates of drug abuse amongst Native American and Alaska Natives related to their culture. First of all, Native American and Alaska Native youth have some of the highest rates of alcohol and drug abuse in the nation. The most apparent obstacles to helping Native Americans and Alaska Natives for addiction are cultural differences and language. Due to this it is important that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Jenkins, Minnesota obtain rehab treatment in an alcohol and drug treatment facility that is culturally acceptable, and more importantly in a drug rehab that takes into the account the need to provide drug rehab in their native tongue.
