Native Americans and Alaska Natives are known to have considerably higher rates of drug abuse and drug addiction than other races, an a situation which must be resolved for these people to endure. Although the reasons may vary from person to individual, many of the factors for the higher rates of drug abuse amongst Native American and Alaska Natives have to do with their culture. The most apparent barriers to treating Native Americans and Alaska Natives for drug addiction are cultural differences and their language.
