Rehabilitating individuals who are addicted and dependent to drugs and/or alcohol and have ended up in the criminal justice system has proven a productive method of preventing repeat drug related criminal offenses by those who do receive treatment. For criminal justice clients in Indian that do agree to take part in treatment in drug and alcohol treatment centers, even un-voluntarily as is often ordered by the court, these persons have a far better chance at handling the crux of the problem so that they can remain abstinent and off of being implicated in drug related criminal acts. The costs to the criminal justice system related to these drug related criminal offenses is also impacted beneficially when criminal justice clients are rehabbed in drug rehab programs in Indian in lieu of incarceration or other penalties.
