Men and women can become addicted to alcohol or drugs no matter their handicap or unique physical challenge. This sometimes makes individuals particularly more vulnerable to getting involved in alcohol or drug addiction, because of the unique issues that may pop up in the perspon's life. This is the case for individuals in the deaf and hearing impaired community also, and treatment for drug and alcohol abuse disorders is sometimes needed. Deaf or hearing impaired people often need ASL or other assistance as part of their drug rehab plan, and there are drug and alcohol treatment programs available throughout the Hope area which specifically help fill these special needs. Skilled treatment counselors who know ASL and can provide other necessary assistance to deaf or hearing impaired addicted individuals are readily available in a number of drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs around Hope and in the United States.
