Native Americans and Alaska Natives are known to have considerably very high rates of abuse and drug addiction than other races, an a circumstance which should be aknowledged for these cultures to survive. While the things which trigger substance abuse may differ from individual to individual, many of the factors for the higher rates of alcohol and drug abuse amongst Native American and Alaska Natives are cultural ones. The most apparent hurdles to treating Native Americans and Alaska Natives for addiction are cultural differences and language.
