Farson, WY. - Native Language Assistance
Native Americans and Alaska Natives have considerably higher rates of drug abuse and addiction than other races, an a circumstance which should be addressed for these people to survive. Although the causes may differ from person to person, many of the reasons for the high rates of drug abuse amongst Native American and Alaska Natives are cultural ones. First of all, Native American and Alaska Native adolescents have some of the highest rates of drug and alcohol abuse in the country. The most apparent barriers to treating Native Americans and Alaska Natives for substance abuse are cultural ones and their language. For this reason it is crucial that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Farson receive substance abuse treatment in a drug and alcohol treatment center that is culturally acceptable, but more importantly in one that considers the need to supply drug treatment in their native tongue.
