Native Americans and Alaska Natives are known to have much higher rates of alcohol and drug abuse and drug addiction than other races, an a situation which must be addressed for these cultures to endure. Although the reasons may differ from person to individual, most of the reasons for the higher rates of drug abuse among Native American and Alaska Natives are cultural ones.
