Native Americans and Alaska Natives are known to have considerably increased rates of drug abuse and alcohol and drug addiction than other ethnicities, an an issue which must be aknowledged for these cultures to survive. While the reasons may differ from person to individual, many of the causes for the higher rates of abuse among Native American and Alaska Natives have to do with their culture. First of all, Native American and Alaska Native adolescents have some of the highest rates of drug and alcohol abuse in the country. The most apparent obstacles to treating Native Americans and Alaska Natives for drug and alcohol addiction are cultural challenges and language. Due to this it is important that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Bosque Farms receive treatment services in a drug and alcohol treatment facility that is understanding of their culture, but more importantly in one that considers the need to provide alcohol and drug rehabilitation in their native tongue.
