Native Americans and Alaska Natives have much higher rates of drug abuse and addiction than other ethnicities, an an issue which has to be aknowledged for these cultures to endure. Although the reasons may vary from person to person, most of the reasons for the higher rates of drug abuse amongst Native American and Alaska Natives have to do with their culture. In fact, Native American and Alaska Native adolescents have some of the highest rates of alcohol and drug abuse in the nation. The most obvious hurdles to helping Native Americans and Alaska Natives for substance abuse are cultural differences and their language. Due to this it is important that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Blanco obtain substance abuse treatment in a drug treatment center that is culturally acceptable, but most importantly in a drug rehab program that takes into the account the need to provide alcohol and drug treatment in their language.
