Native Americans and Alaska Natives are known to have considerably higher rates of substance abuse and drug addiction than other races, an a situation which has to be addressed for these cultures to endure. Although the reasons may vary from individual to individual, the majority of of the reasons for the significantly higher rates of drug abuse among Native American and Alaska Natives are cultural ones.
