Ajo, AZ. - Native Language Assistance
Native Americans and Alaska Natives are known to have considerably very high rates of alcohol and drug abuse and drug addiction than other races, an an issue which should be addressed for these cultures to endure. While the reasons may differ from individual to person, many of the reasons for the significantly higher rates of drug abuse among Native American and Alaska Natives are cultural ones. In fact, Native American and Alaska Native youth appear to have some of the highest rates of alcohol and drug abuse in the country. The most apparent hurdles to helping Native Americans and Alaska Natives for substance abuse are cultural challenges and language. Due to this it is important that Native Americans and Alaska Natives in Ajo obtain treatment services in a drug treatment program that is understanding of their culture, but more importantly in a drug rehab program that understand the need to provide drug and alcohol rehab in their native tongue.
